Good hardware, bad included cable
It works well, but the included cable seems to be an issue. I started backing up stuff right after plugging it in for the first time. After 0.7tb or so the connection started to get randomly interrupted (failing the file transfer, obviously). Got me worried, but after I switched the cable to a hich-quality USB-C I experienced no more issues. I’d put 5 stars if not for that feeble cable.

I’ve been in IT for over 20 years running my own shop, and I’ve used plenty of external enclosures over the years. This WAVLINK Thunderbolt 5 enclosure is on a whole different level. I dropped in a Samsung Pro 9100 4TB and now have a super high-performance portable SSD that rivals internal storage speeds. I’m routinely transferring huge SQL databases and other large project files, and this enclosure easily keeps up with sequential read speeds above 6000MB/s and write speeds over 5000MB/s when paired with Thunderbolt 5.What sets this apart is the active cooling system. Most portable SSDs rely only on passive aluminum shells that eventually throttle under load, but this has a built-in high-speed fan and aluminum alloy housing that kick in when temps rise. My drive stays cool even during sustained heavy transfers, which protects the hardware investment and ensures consistent performance.Setup is simple with the included Thunderbolt 5 cable, silicone heat sink, and screwdriver, and compatibility is solid as long as you’re running a proper NVMe M-Key or B+M Key drive in the 2280 size. Build quality is excellent, typical of WAVLINK, with a nice balance of durability and price point.It’s also backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and 3, though those ports won’t reach the full 80Gbps speed. Still, you’ll get excellent performance that easily outpaces older USB enclosures.For professionals working with video editing, SQL databases, or any kind of large-scale data backup, this enclosure is an absolute workhorse. It gives me peace of mind knowing my high-end drive isn’t cooking itself under constant use, and the performance boost has made my workflow far more efficient.

Rugged and Fast NVMe Enclosure for IT Work
The build quality on this enclosure is excellent. It feels very solid and rugged, and the included thermal pad with the thick aluminum casing does a great job of keeping my Samsung 990 running cool. This is my go-to portable NVMe USB-C drive, and it pairs perfectly with the Samsung 990 I installed.I set it up to fit my needs as a computer and network repair consultant. I use it daily with multiple partitions, one for bootable media like Windows and Linux installers along with repair utilities, and another for storage where I keep drivers, diagnostic tools, installer files, and other important resources. The transfer speeds are excellent, but remember it is only as fast as the slowest connection. If you connect it to a USB-A or a Type-C port that isn’t 80Gbps, it will only run at that speed. To get full performance, all ports in the chain need to support the same speed.The price is on the high side, but I think it is worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this enclosure for anyone in IT or a related field who needs speed, reliability, and durability.

Le couvercle, aimanté, même s’il est facile à retirer est vraiment bien maintenu.Quand à l’électronique, après avoir fait quelques tests, il permet a mon dernier SSD de communiquer et fonctionner dans les meilleurs conditions possible, jusqu’aux cadences les plus hautes.Pour moi, ce boitier est un investissement d’avenir permettant d’éviter les goulets d’étranglements entre la gestion de mon SSD et le reste de mon informatique actuel et à venir.Sans le moindre doute et impressionné par la haute qualité de ce matériel WAVLINK, je vous le recommande.

Höchst zufrieden bis jetzt! Gehäuse aus Metal, passive Kühlung, sieht schick aus und läßt sich leicht öffnen und schließen. Habe eine Samsung EVO SSD 4TB verbaut die dann an einem Thunderbolt 5 angebunden ist.Laut BlackMagic schlägt diese Kombo sogar die interne Mac mini SSD um längen. Der Umzug meiner Daten von Scandisk 4TB auf die Samsung EVO 4TB ging sehr schnell. Gehäuse wird dann spürbar heiss und kühlt dann langsam auf handwärme runter. Habe mich bewußt gegen einen Controller mit Lüfter entschieden da ich keine Geräusche mag schon gar nicht von einem Brüllwürfel.
