A bit of a handful to set up as few of us in business were trained in bookkeeping.Xero has to be the best accountancy business package of all time. There are no training courses. But the book shows how to start, but as you set up each stage, begining by inputting your bank statements, plenty of on line guidance. Your accountant should be able to help. But when you get to grips with it you won’t have to employ a bookkeeper you can also run it on your iPad. Abosolutely brilliant and I am 82 with 52 years in business and started Xero on July 1st from cold. Good luck. Thanks to Amazon and the book.

On one level this looks superb and the description here exactly and accurately describes it. Its written very clearly and seems very comprehensive but there are gaps.First its almost exclusively american so all the terminology etc is from the USASecond on VAT for example it just has a generic 3 pages on how to set up your VAT details when you are setting up the company account. The Construction Industry scheme is mentioned in passing with nothing on the detail and reports / outputsBut the biggest gap of all is PAYROLL . There is a comment in effect that Xero has a rudimentary Payroll System and you could hire a Payroll Bureau or buy a specific payroll system and link it to Xero . The reality that Xero has quite a comprehensive Payroll system but its complex because the subject is complex and it has some faults. That was one of the main reasons for buying the book and there is nothing all about Payroll in this . That is a huge gapThis is all down to trying to use one book to cover so many different jurisdictions with different systems and complexities. But XERO is fast growing market leading system in many countries and, for the latest edition of this, printed just 2 months ago I honestly expected a little moreSo useful yes but in may ways a disappointment

Informative on the subjects it covers but leaves big sections out like payroll?
