Does not come with vesa screws
I should have gotten a bigger one. This thing is excellent. Wish it came with vesa screws though to mount it in an arm. Threw the strand away because that part was cheap

Exellent Monitor With Nice Features, Few Downsides
The MSI PRO MP242PMG Computer Monitor reasonably satisfied my expectations. I was shopping for a monitor, not because my previous monitor has ceased to operate, but because I wanted a monitor with a built-in webcam. I did not like the performance of the clip-on cameras I had tried, as they were physically clunky and unstable. Here are some of the excellent points about this monitor:1) The camera is stable and almost out of the box oriented correctly to view the upper body of the person sitting in front of it. It also has a sliding switch to cover the camera’s lens if you desire privacy in all situations.2) The built in microphone is perfectly directional, such that my external speakers do not cause any echo or feedback at all, even when the audio output volume on my computer is turned up all the way. In addition, the microphone picks up my voice well, even if I am not talking loudly. Because of the microphone’s lack of feedback, I was able to ditch my headset completely, and just use my speakers and built-in microphone on video calls and conferences.3) Many HD monitors simply interpolate and stretch regular aspect ratio video modes to fill entire screen, distorting the image by making the horizontal scaling much greater than that of the vertical. This monitor actually displays such video modes in their native aspect ratio horizontally centered on screen. This feature was important to me as I am a vintage computer and operating system hobbyist, and most video cards compatible with Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.51 do not have drivers which have wide screen display modes.4) The microphone and webcam are actually internal nodes on a built-in, powered, USB hub, which includes two external USB ports which allow for reducing USB cable clutter coming from the computer.I only really found one downside to this monitor. That was that there are certain low resolution DOS video modes which the monitor did not render correctly, clipping off parts of the video image on the right and left sides. This is important to me because I experiment with DOS video games and was quite disappointed that my EPIC Pinball games did not completely display the entire image on the screen. I am not sure if this cannot be adjusted with a setting, but I am going to try calling technical support to see if something can be done.

Just went black
After 3 months, it just went black and stopped working. I did not buy a warranty, so I am out the $129+. I would recommend to either buy the warranty or find another monitor.

camera needs USB-B cable
works as expected, good quality for price. Hooked up to a Mac mini through HDMI. the only way I was able to get the camera to function was using the USB-B port, which I hadn’t seen in years and had to buy a new cable for.

The image is nice and crisp, no issue there. Good monitor for the price, and I am happy with it. Still, a few things bugged me.1. No manual came with the product, except for a single folded sheet showing 3 images explaining the assembly of the stand and one image showing the various ports and connectors available in the back of the monitor. There were also two tables on this sheet but the content was in Japanese (I assume), which I can’t read. There wasn’t even a reference to a website… but I found the manual via a Google search.2. Even the full manual doesn’t explain how to connect the monitor to the computer, only how to connect the monitor to the power. Well, I had already seen that there was an HDMI cable in the package, and an HDMI port in the back of the monitor, so no problem connecting that and getting an image; I had done that already. However, I couldn’t figure out how to get the camera to work. I had several remote meeting in the first week that I used my new big screen, but still using the camera on my laptop, i.e. not looking at the people I was talking to (I’m sure most of the people reading this know what I mean). Only, the “parts list” in the manual specified that the USB Upstream Cable (also provided) must be connected for the camera to work. Weird place to put that information. Again, there was a step in the instructions that said to “Connect the video cable from the monitor to your computer.”, but no instructions whatsoever about how to do this (e.g. options for several ports for this in the back of the monitor), and even less about about the requirement that the USB Upstream Cable be used fore the camera to work. But now knowing this, I removed the HDMI cable and connected the USB Upstream Cable instead, Result: no image! The computer showed me briefly that it was setting up a new device (the camera) so I know that I had established the connection between the laptop and the monitor, but no image. It turns out that you need to connect both: the image (and sound, I think) go through the HDMI connection, and the camera through the USB Upstream Cable. Techies will think that I must be an idiot for not having known this. I’m not; I have a PhD in molecular biology, and I learned everything about DNA (and more) in “molecular biology school”, but not that it takes a special USB Upstream Cable to connect a camera embedded in a monitor to communicate with the computer to which the monitor is already – and functionally – connected. Bottom line: deficient manual, in my opinion… but I worked it out.3. So then, I set myself up for the next meeting for which I will use my new camera, and look at my colleagues straight in the eye. But then, I noticed that some camera features that I would have expected were missing (or at least, I didn’t fine them… in the deficient manual).a. No image flip. The webcam in every laptop I have ever used offers (usually it’s the default) to present the image from my own camera as in a mirror. We all see other people straight on, but when we see ourselves (in real time), it is always a reverse image, in a mirror. It is quite disconcerting to not have this option from the webcam in my MSI monitor. I am actually considering returning it just for that reason (or to buy a separate camera, but then I wasted money buying a monitor with an embedded camera). If every laptop manufacturer can do it, why can’t MSI?b. No zoom. I bought a larger screen in part so that I can put it further away from me and have desk space in front of me (e.g. so that I can comfortably take notes during calls). But with the monitor (and the camera) 2 1/2 to 3 feet (about a meter) from me, my face occupies only a small part of the field of the camera. Google Meet will take care of that and focus on my face; but MS Teams does not (or at least, I don’t know how). Since larger screens are typically placed further away from the user than a laptop screen, It would have expected that the camera software in this larger screen would include such an appropriate function.Anyway, that’s my opinion. This monitor is not bad at all, but it is lacking on silly, easy things.
