Works well for long range networking, as long as you understand their limitations
First things first; these are NOT super high speed/throughput. These are made to be used in situations where conventional wifi does not work at all, due to distance or line of sight barriers. As long as you understand this, these are very useful little network appliances. Overall I am quite impressed with them, for what they are.I am using this bridge to extend my home network out to my garage, where I am getting 7-8MBPS up/down, and this is pretty slow by modern standards but MUCH better than the 0MBPS I was getting with conventional 2.4/5GHz wifi, which simply could not reach my garage from inside the house, while these can easily bridge the gap even from the opposite side of the property. They are extremely plug-and-play, requiring no real configuration. Just plug the provided antennas, power, and ethernet cables in, and as long as the received signal strength is good enough it just seems to work. A clear line of sight between the two device’s antennas gives them the best shot at obtaining maximum throughput, but they will work at reduced speed without direct line of sight, certainly better than conventional wifi in that respect.Technical details for nerds: these are based on these Gaotek wireless modules, specifically the P9-NR variant: https://gaotek.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/GAOTek-WM-135-Technical-Documentation-User-Manual-or-Instruction-Manual-1.pdfI am very pleased that these have normal polarity SMA connectors rather than RP-SMA, this means that if you know what you’re doing, you can connect higher gain antennas than the provided whip antennas (check your area’s laws before doing this! Unlicensed ISM band devices like these are limited in terms of how much power + antenna gain they can have).

    Works through 5 walls
We have a detached garage. There are 4-5 walls between our apartment and our garage so obviously our wifi doesn’t reach. We tried several different wifi extenders and none of them worked. This one does work, though we don’t get much bandwidth. It’s enough bandwidth for a smart garage door opener but not enough to stream video from a security camera. Works better than anything else we tried, so can’t complain.

    Not working
It doesn’t work and the instructions are no goodIf you could offer some help I would update the review

Good if you understand limitations and update the firmware
First of all, these are 900MHz units. That means “slow compared to wifi”. In ideal conditions, the real speed is around 10mbps, a fraction of wifi. What is good, is that even in less than ideal conditions (no line of sight, distance) they can get up to 5mbps when a 2.4GHz repeater will have no signal. So, slow is better than nothing. These devices are based on the Taixin TXW8301 modules, which are decently well documented and tools are available. The problem, like all Taixin modules, is that security is not strong by default. Without getting too technical, the encryption key is based on the module serial number, and easy to snoop with the proper tools (see the DEFCON32 talk on this for details). The seller replies to support requests, but doesn’t provide actually useful information. The seller doesn’t provide the necessary tools to secure the devices, but it’s easy to download the tools from the Taixin website and change the encryption key to a secure one. Also, the devices arrive with a very old firmware (1.3.8.3) with a bug that drops packets after a few days, but there is new firmware on the Taixin website (1.6.3.3) which works very reliably. If you are decently technical, these devices with the right encryption key and firmware are 5 stars. Considering the lack of support/tools from the seller, for most people are 3 stars at best. If you own these, look online for the tools and instruction on updating them

lifesaver, beats 2.4 GHz easily in my application
Works great! I was messing around with high gain directional antennas on 2.4 GHz wifi equipment, but still couldn’t get through a particular wall that I needed to, well sometimes, but only 2 Mbps, this quadrupled that speed! It’s still not *fast* at the distance I’m at (1 bar of signal), but fast enough, I can do work and browse the internet and I’m thrilled about that!

  6. BoB

    Does what it’s supposed to
Does exactly what it is supposed to.Great for hopping 10/100 network control over a large distance. I use these for Robo camera and studio camera control, and video router control where running cables is problematic. The 900 Mhz helps pass through obstacles and avoids the congested 2.4 range.Could be a little more durable and would be nice if it could handle over 12V DC (some camera batteries can run up to 16V).

  7. LopezLopez

    Very nice
The product is solid quality, you can feel it as soon as you open the box, I really hated to return it, the equipment intended to be use was not compatible (POLY DESKTOP PHONE), I wish it was…. Order it after you check if your your equipment is good enough

  8. Jack Doodley

Transmit side of bridge failed after a year.
Update 12/27/24: The transmit side of the bridge stopped transmitting after around 12 months. The lights worked and appeared fine when rebooting, but wouldn’t link up with the receiver that is 75 feet away. Device completely failed when testing both using a different power supply. The device wasn’t in any adverse area (it was in an apartment laundry room, so the elements weren’t a factor). Bought another one and the same thing happened again, transmit side failed.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++I needed a little more distance for my WiFi set-up and these worked great as soon as I connected them. Now getting really good streaming pictures from my security camera.
