From Hype to Headache-When FURY Turns Into Regret
Let me start by saying: I did everything right.Watched all the top-tier YouTube tech reviewers. Every single one of them practically gave this thing a standing ovation.“Blazing speeds!” “Top-tier reliability!” “Best NVMe for the money!”Naturally, I bought into the hype and went all-in on the Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB NVMe SSD.What I got was a cold dose of reality — and no, not the kind with RGB lighting. This drive doesn’t even have that. For a product marketed as FURY, it’s astonishingly plain. A sliver of graphite-looking material on top — presumably for cooling, but honestly, it looks like a thermal sticker from a $10 SD card. And if you want the version with a heatsink? Kingston wants to charge you another $100 for a tiny piece of budget aluminum and a baby fan that probably couldn’t cool a Pi Zero.No joke, the heatsink looks like it was ripped off a knockoff router from 2008.But fine — I didn’t care about looks. I cared about performance. I bought a high-end enclosure, downloaded Kingston’s own software, and got ready to clone my existing drive. Here’s where it all fell apart:Windows: didn’t recognize it.Android: nope.Kingston’s own software: “What SSD?”Enclosure: tested with another drive — worked perfectly.Asked my neighbor (my real-life Flanders) to try it on his setup. Still dead.So I assumed maybe the enclosure wasn’t playing nice. I took things a step further — and by step, I mean dismantled my entire hardline custom water-cooled PC.Yes, drained the loop, pulled the GPU, CPU, motherboard — the whole nine yards — just to test this drive directly on my board.BIOS? Nothing. NVMe list? Empty.Even after resetting BIOS to factory defaults — still no detection. At this point, I was genuinely wondering if I had bought a prop for a Kingston product photo shoot. The kicker? Amazon’s response:Partial refund. Keep the product. So I’m stuck with a glorified bookmark that cost more than a round-trip flight.A company as massive as Amazon couldn’t be bothered to just exchange it for one that might work? That’s customer “obsession” for you. Here’s the deal:If this SSD had worked — if it had delivered even 10% of what the influencers promised — I’d be writing a glowing five-star review. But instead, I got a dead drive, drained a $4,000 water-cooled system, and got treated like an afterthought by both Kingston and Amazon.Verdict: 1 star.Only because Amazon doesn’t let us give negative stars. (Hey Amazon devs — feature request?)Avoid this one unless you’re looking to:Disassemble your entire PC for funGet ghosted by BIOSReceive the world’s most expensive thermal stickerAnd pay extra for a heatsink that looks like it came from a cereal box toyYou’ve been warned.

Product Review: Kingston FURY Renegade 2TB SSD
The Kingston FURY Renegade 2TB SSD is an exceptional storage solution that has significantly improved my system’s performance. Here are my thoughts based on my experience:**Pros:**1. **Blazing Fast Speeds:** This SSD offers incredibly fast read and write speeds, making it perfect for gaming, video editing, and other high-demand applications. It drastically reduces load times and enhances overall system responsiveness.2. **Large Capacity:** With 2TB of storage, it provides ample space for a large number of games, files, and applications, eliminating the need for additional storage solutions.3. **Reliable Performance:** Kingston is known for its reliability, and the FURY Renegade lives up to that reputation. It performs consistently under heavy workloads without any hiccups.4. **Durable Build:** The drive is built to last, with high-quality components ensuring long-term durability and data integrity.5. **Easy Installation:** Installation was straightforward, and the drive was quickly recognized by my system. It comes with a comprehensive set of instructions, making it easy even for those with minimal technical expertise.**Cons:**1. **Price:** The high performance and large capacity come at a premium price. It may be a significant investment for some users, especially those on a budget.2. **No Included Heatsink:** The drive does not come with a heatsink, which might be necessary for maintaining optimal performance under extended heavy use. However, this can be purchased separately if needed.**Conclusion:**The Kingston FURY Renegade 2TB SSD is a top-tier choice for those looking to boost their system’s performance with fast speeds and large storage capacity. Despite its higher price and the lack of an included heatsink, its reliable performance, durable build, and easy installation make it a worthwhile investment for gamers, content creators, and power users. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a high-performance SSD.

    PS5
Definitely worked to expand memory, performance isn’t a drastic notable difference, but overall it’s been great

No hardware and not packaged as advertised
Horrible time trying to get this to work with my PC. Cloned my SSD but he drivers were not installed so the new SSD would not boot the computer. That was frustrating enough, but the used “Like New” item was shipped in a mylar bag with no packaging and no mounting hardware. So I ended up wasting multiple days waiting for a stupid tiny screw that should have come with this drive. They advertise a like new product in new packaging that may be crumpled or slightly damaged and that’s not what they sent. I bought this drive at the CCC lowest price ever so I can’t complain too much, but I don’t like that they didn’t send what I bought and they sent an item in worse shape with missing parts. M

Kingston FURY Renegade 1TB SSD w JDiskMark tests
This is for the 1TB SSD SFYRS1000G by KingstonUsed this for video editing w adobe primer and the experience was blazing fast on my Gigabyte Z790 w a PCIE 4.0 m2 slot. Easy install and great performance for the price. I would definitely buy again but maybe the larger 2 or 4TB model. I’ve used Kingston for years and have not come across any failed SSDs or memory modules yet so I love this brand and trust their quality. I’ll include test from JDiskMark 0.6.1 as reference.9/2 – Added a 4 threaded read test to compare’s its incredible multithreaded speed benchmark.

    Does not come with screws
This gets a 4 star only because it does not come with the hardware you need to mount it into an M.2 slot. BUYERS BEWARE, IT DOES NOT COME WITH AN M.2 SCREW KIT.

This product is truly outstanding! The performance is incredibly fast, and the heatsink ensures stable temperatures even under heavy use. The loading speeds and overall system improvement were significantly noticeable. I’m seriously considering buying another one to expand storage further. Highly recommend this product for anyone looking for speed and efficiency.
