I’ve needed this for a long time
I have always been concerned about surge protection for my electronics when traveling. Sometimes I take corded surge protectors with me, but they are bulky and heavy. So, I recently started looking for an alternative and found several on Amazon.I preferred a known brand, protection of 800 Joules or greater, and, ideally, an Underwriter’s Laboratory (UL) seal. I found two Belkin devices that fit my needs, this Belkin protector (with 3 AC and 2 USB ports) and the smaller Belkin 1-outlet SurgeCube (not sure if the SurgeCube is UL listed).When traveling, my charging needs are: laptop (AC), camera battery charger (AC), Kindle (AC or USB), and cell phone (AC or USB). I decided this Belkin Surge Protector (with 3 AC and 2 USB) was the best fit for my needs. But I was uncertain about the size after reading conflicting information. I decided to order it and see for myself.Dimensions. The product dimensions listed on Amazon are: 2.2 x 5.16 x 7.2 inches. These dimensions seem to be for the box the product comes in, which I measured as 1.9 x 4.4 x 7.9 inches. The dimensions of the product itself are: 1.5 x 2 (3.25 counting the plug) x 4.0 inches. It is basically the size of my eyeglasses case. The weight is comparable to my morning coffee mug. So compact, but not tiny. Certainly more travel-friendly than my corded surge protecting power strips. See my photos.What I like. Rotating plug should allow flexibility in using outlets. Indicator light shows the unit is functioning. Ample plug-ins, both AC and USB, to accommodate my needs. UL listed seal. Manufacturer states 918 Joule rating.What I don’t like: It would be nice if the plug prongs folded down, out of the way. Rotating the plug is a bit harder than I expected (you do have to depress a button under the plug while rotating), hoping it might get easier with practice.I tried it at home and it seems to work well, will add it to my kit for my next trip.

These are expensive but work really well. I got a couple for my house to replace some old wall surge protectors. I guess you pay for the brand.

Belkin’s a trusted name and this is performing as well as I expect.
Very pleased with this. Belkin is a very good name for this type of product. We have many other types by them. We live in the mountains, so power ‘events’ are fairly routine. All of our big stuff is on either APCs or other Belkin larger strips, but those are just too bulky to try to put on every little thing. Stumbled over this and was tickled. I didn’t even know real surge suppressors had gotten this small. It’s fantastic and we haven’t lost a coffee pot since we got this.The size makes it ever so much more practical to use for smaller things. With 6 outlets, you can leave all your various counter top things plugged in, but it’s so much smaller that it doesn’t get in the way. You can screw it right into the socket. It’s good looking enough so it won’t be an eyesore wherever you put it. Clear indicators of whether the protection is working. And the warranty is a great plus. I’m going to be getting a few 3 outlet ones for other parts of the house.As with our other Belkin things, there are no performance issues with this. I’m good about updating, though, if something does pop up.

nice, good quality, just bigger than I expected
I really like Belkin products. I’ve bought many over the years. This is product is good for travel, but its size a little deceptive. I can understand why some like it for airports/travel, but it looks obnoxiously big at home in a visible outlet. The box label calls it a “travel surge protector,” which is a much better description. It’s called a “power strip” a couple of places in the description, and that’s actually more accurate. It’s a compact power strip. I tried it in my bathroom so I didn’t have to keep unplugging my toothbrush to plug in my hairdryer. (Yes, first-world problem.) It just sticks out too far from the wall for my taste. The swiveling prongs were tricky for, like, a second. The small white button to allow it to turn is very subtle. Which seems kinda odd considering it’s a pretty bulky product. So if you travel with several electronic products, I can recommend this. But for everyday home use, I’d get something else.

I do love this little gem.
I saw this unit when searching for USB power supplies and it stuck out as something that would work well for traveling. I was very right in that assumption. It went on a trip the day it arrived and performed exceptionally well. may be hard to get excited about a USB adapter and a mini power strip, but Belkin did this one right. The USB ports provide plenty of juice (unlike many underpowered generics, this easily powered my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 with no concern. Other USB devices were equally happy). The 3 power outlets allowed me to have my MBPro, Airport express, and anything else needed. The rotating 3 pin plug is a great feature to be sure you plug in at the right angle to assure your cables hang down and aren’t being forced in an awkward direction.The only minute I see in this unit — I wish that one of the 117V power outlets (either end) was rotated 90 degrees so that a wall wart power supply wouldn’t take up two (and possibly, with a large one, all three) slots. I travel with a specific production rig that has one traditional power 2 pin power cord, one traditional 3 pin power cord, and a wall wart and this is the only bummer, either plugging the wart directly into the wall, if the second of the traditional two wall outlets is available, or plugging what is in the second plug on the wall (if it isn’t also a wart) into the third available Belkin outlet and the wart into the wall. Sounds like a small thing, but it sometimes results in not being able to run off of one outlet, which is the point (knowing that your entire travel setup is supported by a single 117V 15A outlet) I didn’t take off a star for this – but it certainly would’ve made a product Im very happy to be traveling with perfect.

Nice little gizmo. Frees up electrical outlets for common items, lamps for example, and allows for two personal devices (tablets, smartphones, etc.) to charge at the same time without an adapter. Of course, add in three outlet adapters, and you could charge up to five devices at the same time. This would also be a very useful gadget while traveling. All in all, a very useful gizmo for any household with multiple devices.

El producto es excelente. Yo la verdad lo utilizo más en casa, pero también me lo llevo cuando salgo. Es muy bueno y protege contra pequeñas variaciones de temperatura, sobre todo en lugares en donde la luz eléctrica no es estable.Además es compacto y con suficientes conexiones.
